Purpose
The purpose of the University Subdomain Management Procedure is to establish a clear, consistent process for the creation, approval, and management of subdomains under the university’s official domain. This ensures that all subdomains serve the academic, administrative, and strategic interests of the University, maintain institutional integrity, uphold security standards, and prevent conflicts of interest or duplication.
Scope
This is an institution-wide procedure.
Referenced Laws, Regulations, and/or Policies
This is the University procedure.
Compliance/Policy Statement
Official Internet Domain
The official domain name of Parami University is parami.edu.mm, and it must be used for all official university communications, publications, and promotional materials.
Parami University also holds additional domain names, including:
paramiuniversity.org
paramiuniversity.com
parami-university.com
paramiuniversity.com.mm
parami-university.com.mm
These alternate domains are reserved for specific internal systems or backup purposes. They should not be used for external communication or publicly promoted unless explicitly approved. Usage of these domains is limited to designated technical purposes and internal references only.
Subdomain Names
Subdomains are extensions of the university’s primary domain (e.g., parami.edu.mm) and are typically used to represent specific units, systems, or initiatives. Examples include:
learning.parami.edu.mm – for learning platforms
ticketsystem.parami.edu.mm – for internal support systems
cimrs.parami.edu.mm, digitalarchive.parami.edu.mm/omeka/ – for course catalog or archive systems
club.parami.edu.mm – for email addresses or student groups
Subdomains provide both functional and strategic benefits, serving as dedicated web addresses for specific projects, events, or academic/administrative units under Parami University. They also support branding, communications, and operational clarity.
Parami University allows the creation of subdomains in specific categories and under approved circumstances. Students, faculty, or staff may request a subdomain through the Office of Educational Technology (EdTech). Subdomains may be used as website URLs or institutional email aliases. However, only A records or CNAME records will be permitted. Changes to MX records or nameservers are not allowed.
Subdomain Request Procedure
Step 1: Submit a Request Form
Faculty, staff, or students must submit a formal request via email to: techsupport@parami.edu.mm. Request Form can be downloaded here.
Step 2: Internal Consultation
The EdTech team will review the request and consult with the Senior Management Team.
Step 3: Final Approval
The Senior Management Team will seek final approval from the President.
Step 4: Notification
The requester will be informed of the decision and, if approved, provided with setup instructions and access details.
Subdomain Renewal
All subdomains will undergo an annual renewal review to assess usage, activity, and content relevance. If a subdomain shows signs of inactivity, outdated content, or no longer has a designated owner responsible for its maintenance, it may be subject to deactivation or removal by the Office of Educational Technology.
Maintaining an active and updated presence is essential to retain a subdomain under the university’s domain.
