General Information
Admissions at Parami University are conducted through a holistic review process. The Office of Admissions coordinates the admissions process, with academic input where needed. Application requirements, assessments, and timelines may vary by cohort or program and are published by the Office of Admissions each admissions cycle.
Procedure
Step 1: Application
Applicants submit an application and required documents according to the instructions and deadlines published by the Office of Admissions.
Required documents may include academic records, English language test results, personal statements, recommendations and interview.
Step 2: Initial Review
The Office of Admissions reviews each application to confirm that:
Required documents are submitted, or
The applicant is eligible for consideration under an alternative or contextual pathway.
Incomplete applications may be placed on hold or returned to the applicant with a request for additional information.
Step 3: Academic and Holistic Review
Eligible applications are reviewed by the Admissions Committee or designated admissions officers.
The review may consider:
Academic preparation or equivalent learning experience
English language readiness
Motivation to learn and ability to succeed
Personal background and educational context
Leadership, service, or community engagement, where relevant
No single factor is used as the sole basis for an admissions decision.
Step 4: Alternative and Contextual Pathway Assessment
Applicants who do not have standard test reports, such as a high school diploma or proof of English language proficiency, may be assessed through alternative pathways.
This may include:
A university-administered high school equivalent examination
A proctored English language assessment
Admissions decisions under this pathway are made through holistic review.
Step 5: Interview or Assessment
All applicants are invited to an interview, which assesses their background, motivation, verbal reasoning, and critical thinking. The interview is conducted by trained staff or faculty to better understand the applicant’s readiness and motivation.
Step 6: Admissions Decision
Based on the review, applicants may receive:
● An unconditional admission
● A conditional admission
● Placement on a waitlist, or
● A decision of non-admission
Final decisions are approved by the Admissions Committee or designated University officials.
Step 7: Conditional Admission
Conditional admission may be offered to applicants who demonstrate potential but are required to meet specific academic or administrative conditions before full enrollment.
Conditions and deadlines are communicated clearly in writing.
Step 8: Notification
The Office of Admissions notifies applicants of admissions decisions in writing within the published timelines.
Admissions decisions are made independently of financial aid decisions. Once an admission decision has been finalized, the Financial Aid team reviews the application and proceeds according to established financial aid procedures. Please refer to the Financial Aid Policy for further details.
Step 9: Record Keeping and Data Protection
The Office of Admissions maintains records of applications and admissions decisions in accordance with institutional record-keeping requirements. All application materials submitted to the University become part of the official admissions record and will not be returned to applicants, whether submitted in hard copy or electronically.
All applicant data is handled in accordance with the University’s Data Privacy Policy and Identity Protection and Data Management Policy.
Step 10: Review Requests
Applicants who believe there was a procedural error in their admissions decision may request a review in accordance with the Grievance and Non-Retaliation Policy.
Admissions decisions based on academic judgment are not subject to appeal.
Review
The Office of Admissions is responsible for implementing this procedure and ensuring it is applied consistently across the University.
