This policy governs admissions decisions only. Financial aid, scholarships, and tuition loans are addressed under separate policies and procedures.
Referenced Laws, Regulations, and/or Policies
This is a University-specific policy.
Compliance/Policy Statement
Parami University believes that admissions should be guided by academic standards, fairness, and a recognition of diverse educational pathways. The University is committed to providing access to quality higher education for students who demonstrate academic readiness, motivation to learn, and a commitment to personal growth and community engagement.
Admissions decisions are made through a holistic review process that considers both academic preparation and individual context. No applicant shall be unfairly advantaged or disadvantaged by factors beyond their control.
1. Non-Discrimination in Admissions
Parami University does not discriminate in admissions on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, political belief, or socio-economic background. All
admissions decisions are made in accordance with the University’s Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy.
2. Eligibility for Admission
Parami University provides flexible admissions pathways in recognition of diverse educational backgrounds and learning experiences.
2.1 Standard Eligibility
Applicants who have completed secondary education or a recognized equivalent are eligible to apply for admission. Applicants under this pathway are normally required to submit:
evidence of completion of high school or an equivalent qualification and
a recognized English language proficiency test result, such as IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo, or other tests accepted by the University.
These requirements are intended to demonstrate readiness for undergraduate-level study.
2.2 Alternative and Contextual Pathways
In recognition of educational disruption and unequal access to formal schooling, applicants who do not meet the standard credential or English language test requirements may still be considered for admission through alternative and contextual pathways.
Under this pathway, applicants may be required to:
Sit for the University’s high school equivalent examination, and
Complete a University-administered, proctored English language assessment.
Additional forms of evidence may also be considered to assess academic readiness and motivation, including interviews, writing samples, portfolios, or relevant work, community, or leadership experiences.
3. Application Requirements
Applicants must submit an application and supporting documents as specified by the Office of Admissions. Application requirements may vary by program or cohort and may include academic records, personal statements, recommendations, and interviews. The Office of Admissions is responsible for publishing current application requirements and deadlines. All application materials submitted to the University become part of the official admissions record and will not be returned.
4. Selection Process
Admissions decisions are made through a holistic review conducted by the Admissions Committee or designated admissions officers. The review process may consider academic preparation, learning potential, motivation, leadership or service experience, and alignment with the University’s mission.
No single criterion is used as the sole basis for admission.
5. Decision Authority and Notification
Final authority for admissions decisions rests with the Admissions Committee or designated University officials. Applicants are notified of admissions decisions in writing by the Office of Admissions.
Admissions decisions are made independently of financial aid determinations.
6. Conditional Admission
Parami University may grant conditional admission to applicants who demonstrate potential but are required to meet specified academic or administrative conditions prior to full enrollment.
7. Appeals and Review
Applicants who believe that an admissions decision involved a procedural error may request a review in accordance with the Grievance and Non-Retaliation Policy. Admissions decisions based on academic judgment are not subject to appeal.
8. Confidentiality and Data Protection
All applicant information is handled in accordance with the University’s Data Privacy Policy and Identity Protection and Data Management Policy.
